Has anyone tried metzlers 300-35-18 instead of the avon 300? slightly taller, wider than the avon.Always used avon but the metzler has a better cross-cut pattern

I've never tried them...have you done a search?
Wouldn't you have to change your screen name to Metzler 300:roll:

Several have put them on. Need to modify the right sidewall for belt clearance. Not a big deal

I think that is just the 240 to 250 (or was it the 250 to 260???). It was one or the other, but the 300 will go right on and wear faster because it is a softer compound.

Use the new Avon Cobra series instead of the Venom. They look better than the Metzler, I think.

ive had a metzler 300 (2005 ridgeback) for about 8,500 miles now. the treadwear is minimal thus far, and it seems to agree with the avon front tire. my original skin was the avon and i got about 12,000 out of that one. however, i do have an odd wearband about 2-3 inches wide just to the left of center on both the avon and metzler. anyone have this problem also?

I just changed mine this weekend and mine had that left side wear as well after 8500 miles. Dealer says it is for sure alignment being off.

My buddy ran metzlers on his Texas Chop and went through 4 tires in 2 seasons because of left side wear. Dealer said it was perfectly aligned everytime, and it went in for check ups after the first two tires to make sure alignment was staying in.

I say....

The tire runs on the left of center because of the crown in most roads. AND when you crank on the throttle hard, you don't notice it , but you pull back on the right grip when cranking. That in turn would make the bike lean a bit under hard acceleration to run just left off center causing the tire to wear faster there.

Turn your tire around and run it the other way!!!! :)
