thunder heart ignition module?

Hello all and thanks for the warm welcome a couple of days ago. I changed my battery yesterday and the socket wrench grounded out on my ignition module of my 2004 ridgeback. From what I see on the boards they are no longer available. Is that true and if so where do I go from here? I'm not getting any red led action. Help please.:

I RECENTLY HAD PROBLEMS WITH MINE, I SENT IT OUT TO THUNDERHEART AND THEY TESTED IT AND SAID IT WAS FINE SO I WASNT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS SO MY TECH SUGGESTED I UPGRADE TO A DUAL FIRE IGNITION , SO I DID AND MAN DOES IT RUN GREAT. BUT WHILE I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE FROM A MEMBER HERE AND ALSO ANOTHER MEMBER SENT ME ONE ALL BEFORE I HAD THE ORIGINAL TESTED , SO NOW I HAVE 3 BUT I HAD TAKEN OBNE OF THE CONNECTER PLUGS OFF OF EACH ONE BECAUSE I HAD TO SPLICE THE WIRES INSTEAD BUT THE MOTTO OF THETORY IS I HAVE 3 USED ONES.

PS . YOU CAN ALSO CALL THUNDERHEART AT THE TIME BACK IN APRIL THEY WERE WILLING TO MACHINE ME UP A NEW ONE FOR MY 04 , THE COST WAS GOING TO BE AROUND 250 , THATS ANOTHER OPTION YOU MIGHT HAVE .

update

Well I took my ignition module to my buddy's house. He has a '04 bulldog. We swapped modules and it worked great. I'm glad that I didn't buy a new one. He loaned me his digital multi meter to test all my lines. I may have pulled a line while swapping out the battery. Fun fun.

I did the same thing! Mine was fried though (no recovery). I installed a Daytona Twin Tech. It has been running great.

Good Luck.

My battery is fully charged. When I push the start button I get nothing. Occasionally I get slight click but def. not trying to start. When I depress the starter plunger it cranks but doesn't start. All wires appear good. I am next going to check them all again with a meter. "crank" sensor was clean but still needs to be tested BUT since it doesn't even try to crank I believe the problem is elsewhere.
update= I don't have power at the green wire (blade connection) on the starter. Since the battery is good I guess I'll have to check the start button next?
2nd update= Start button appeared good (I don't know how to test it) My headlight comes on, speedo rises and falls. Still nothing. All the red fault indicators light steady and the starter light flickers.

Where do I look next? I'm sorry that I don't have a clue. A real mechanic would have her running already.

I found this someplace here---
"There are 3 different fault conditions for that starter circuit that will be detected by the EHC. The first (short circuit fault) is that if there is a short to ground in the solenoid windings when the start button is depressed. The starter circuit switch will detect high current fault and go into a thermal shut down mode and the green LED will be illuminated and it will flicker."
Does this mean that I need a new solenoid? How do I go about testing it?

Do you have a small starter module sitting on top of your battery? Mine was a rectangular unit with two wires and a red LED light. This unit burned out on me...before I burned up my ignition. Just a thought. I am sure one of the other guys might chime in with some other tips.

If that's the object I have pictured in the first post of this thread then I already took mine to a friends house and swapped mine with his and his bike ran and the red LED acted as it should. In my bike I get nothing. Thanks

grrrrr

I just spoke to BD performance about their 2004 PDM kit. It looks like I fried the stock unit when I jumped the bike. Now I have to fork over close to $700 and wait about 3 weeks for the kit.

I'm tired of scratching my head. I got it to turn over but not start by using the "hold the run button and start button at the same time" method. It felt good to hear her trying to start. I'll try again in a little while to see if I'm getting any LED action on that module from the thread start.

The part you have pictured is the Thunder Heart Ignition control unit. The other part I mentioned before is plastic. It too has two wires and one red LED light. It is the starter relay module. Mine was on top of the battery, under the strap to keep it from bouncing around. I had to get one from Amy LuLu at Strokers in Dallas. If the light is not coming on the ignition control unit, you pictured. I would replace the ignition as Marc suggested. Best of luck. I wish I could be more help.

Might want to think about the cam sensor, just saying! That's what sends the signal to your module, hence no red light. Hope this helps get you back in the saddle...

It is the module itself, definitely shorted.
I went through (5) of them. Wish I had one to send you. Do a search on Ebay or call Derick and Donna and see if they have one. There's really no relocating it so when you get the new one, I've made it a habit to unplug the Thunderheart before doing any work around it. The short very easily.
