Thunder Heart 4260

Has anyone actually bought this and wired it up? Ive seen all the posts about it being an option but havent seen any one actually say they have used it and how hard it was to wire up etc. It looks like I may be going this route. I would love the r.i.p kit or the doc kit but at $600+ I just cant afford it. I can get the Thunder Heart 4260 on amazon for $ 250 and the push button converter for $30= $280. I have a $30 credit on amazon so can get the whole setup shipped for $250. Even if it takes me a month to wire it up, thats better than the bike sitting for 6 months to save up for a plug n play kit. So, anyone used one? How hard was it to wire? Any info or opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks:up:

The Thunderheart 4260 is the heart of both the DOC and the R.I.P.
I don't believe anyone has done a wiring schematic of it, although a schematic of the module's wiring is included with the instructions, but if you take your time, lay it all out to match your existing harness and do everything up to match your secondary harnesses you shouldn't have any issues putting it in but expect it to take you some time and effort to put it all together and get it installed.

Thanks Curtis, yeah I really dont want to go that route just for the hassle but not much of a choice as far as money goes.

One major advantage of doing it this way is you will know your wiring system better than you were probably ever interested in knowing it...LOL

So let me throw me .25 cents in. The wiring diagram is great.....if you have HD controls! Now as far as integration with the BD controls, not that great to say the least. Curtis, you are correct. I almost know the BD wiring better than I care too. I am not sure I am buying that anyone has had this work without additional modules for signals and hi / low beams.

GDog, The thunderheart is what rip and doc use and those keep the stock big dog controls. I know that for high beam/ low beam, one control cycles through both functions. There is a way for the thunderheart to work without changing to harley controls

Yet no one knows what this method is from what I can tell.....

I finally got around to wiring it up, if you have any questions I can help

Did you tie the Hi/Lo outputs to wire #2 and Off/Run outputs to wire #1 on push button controller EA4093? Then Take your start output to pin 32 on the micro harness controller? Another question is do you know if the left and right handle bar control power (pin 25 and 26 on the micro harness controller) is powered on by the accessory power or the run power from the key switch? I am looking at a couple of different ways to hook this controller up and greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank you Joe

For the momentary switch converter, you want to run a wire from the Run switch control on the stock connector and hook it to the input 1 on the switch, then hook the kill command wire ( pin 32 ) to the output #1 wire. Same with high beam. Run a new wire from the high beam command on the stock plug down to the switch #2 input, then hook up high beam command ( # 30) to the #2 output. The thunderheart has two wires labeled " right control power" and "left control Power" these hook up to the " Black " wire coming from the hand control boards. As far as the key switch goes, hook the Red "switch power" wire to the orange wire from ignition switch and splice the " switch run" and " switch acc" wires together and hook to the " black " wire coming from the ignition switch.

Do you have to turn on your key and hit the kill switch before your bike will start and if you have to hit the kill button before starting will your starter button work before you hit your kill switch?
Thank you for all your help.

I chose to run the wires to the "run " button. Not sure if it will spin without hitting run first, didnt try. I just turn key on, hit run than start out of habit. I can try tomorrow and let you know

I used the ThunderHeart Micro Chopper / Bobber harness on my bike
Great kit . Very easy to install . Been on the bike since 2011 with no issues .
But it was set up for HD controls .

I have the led bas well and yes it is Tim, thats what the the momentary switch is for. Takes a little work to make it work for our dogs but not too bad.
