Thanks to the forum! Now pushrod issue???

Just wanted to thank those who post "how to's." You all have saved me plenty money, and have helped me learn how to work on my bike. I'm no expert mechanic, but with the pics and instructions on here, i've been able to do some work on my bike.

The latest has been with my clutch cable. Thanks to Gasman for this thread.

I didn't have to replace the cable, but somehow the ball ramp came off track, on the way to the Red River Rally, in Red River, NM. You wouldn't believe all the shit I caught for being broke down on a Big Dog. All them Harley riders are haters. But it was all in good fun, most everyone was helpful. One of the mechanics at the Harley dealership in Taos, NM, offered to trade me straight across for his harley, even though mine was broke down. We still had a good time up there though, it allowed me to enjoy more beverages since the bike was on the trailer and the wife could drive us out of there.

Just saying thanks!

So i think i have it all figured out......i fire up the bike last night and hear like a winding sound. I believe i need to adjust the pushrod. My question is....do i have to disassemble everything again, or could i just loosen the clutch cable on the downtube, and then adjust the pushrod?

Thanks

If you are just adjusting the pushrod length / pressure against the throw-out bearing, you can loosen the clutch cable on the downtube, and then adjust the pushrod. If you have VH BR pipes, I have found that it is easier (but not necessary) to adjust when the rear pipe is removed.

So i've played with the pushrod for about an hour trying to adjust it right. Still can't get the winding/grinding sound to go away. Word is that i will need to get a new pushrod and clutch basket. Does this sound right, or do you think i'm just not adjusting the rod correctly? It wasn't making that sound before the clutch cable came loose from the ball ramp.
