Took the family to Texas the week before last an had a great time. One thing I noticed was that in over 8 hours total driving at night in Texas I did not get one bug on my windshield. I get a few miles into Oklahoma and between there and south Kansas my windshield is so covered in bugs you can barely see out of it. I love night rides and I do not run a windshield on my bike. Texas would be a nice place to ride and not have to pick the bugs out of my teeth when I get home. June bugs are the worst, those fuckers hurt at 70mph when you take one to the forehead.

Been there done that ... in Indiana ... was riding my bro-in-laws Sportster with the wife on the back ... bugs everywhere ... but I was smilin the whole way ... that was in 2001 and the rest is history ... got my 05 Ridgeback and having fun ever since then ... :whoop: :D :up:

Good riding down there....love the place. Have to rent bikes when I go to Dallas and Austin. Summer head can get ya, but the roads are long, clean, and most of the cops like bikers.

Ass load of bike nights and bars all over the state....though I'm biased since we're planing to move to Austin in a couple of years....

I would like to know more about this bug-less place you went...thought it was an urban legend!

We got bugs-a-plenty in Texas...my guess is you were lucky!

yeah the hard shelled bettles are a mo fo @ 70mph. :lol: but as BB said you haven't lived till you run into a storm front of lovebugs, Man those are some bitter tasting bugs & hard as hell to get outta your beard!
Back in 77 was going to a navy school in meridian mississippi the land time forgot (stuck in the 50's) was approaching the front gate about a mile out and took a medium sized bird to my helmet, liked to tore my head off my shoulders @50mph needless to say the bird crashed and burned after striking my helmet.will never forget that incident :lol:

Yep, Texas is a great place to ride. Although I now live in Oklahoma I am a native Hill Country Texas boy. You were lucky about the bugs. A couple of summers ago I had to make a quick stop to get a red wasp out from under my vest.

holy shiz! bet that got your attention quickly.those wasp stings are like getting shot with a bullet,oh that burning sensation.:eek: once got blasted in the shoulder blade area by a couple of the insane assholes, I reeked revenge on their hide out though, flame throwered the nest with a spray can of wd-40 and a bic lighter. "Poof" smoke & mayhem & then no survivors.:roll:

Yeah, I didn't know I had picked him up until I felt something like a hot nail against my skin. He was stinging me through my shirt under the vest.

A big Texas size grasshopper @ 70mp in the lip is almost as bad though.

Texas is a nice place to ride until:
1) its 105 degrees outside
2) you catch a 2" grasshopper or giant bumble bee between the eyes at 70 MPH
3) going across a lake at dusk EATING MOSQUITOS

Knew it was too good to bee :D true. I was in the family Durango so it must have been a conspiracy of the bugs to tempt me to come down with my bike and then they would attack.

First it occurred to me that I had no bugs hitting the windshield was coming back from Rockport to San Antonio at about 10:00. Maybe that is the blessed roadway.

Whew...the damn luv bugs...they are the worst! Gotta get a special spray to get them off of the front of your car or truck daily...damn things will eat into the paint!

Every srping, every fall...luv bugs! Well they don't luv me and I dont luv them either!!!
