Temporary tach for tuning

Is there a way that I can hook a tachometer temporarily while tuning the carb and setting up the final idle adjustment?

I was just asking wasn't sure if I could hook straight up to
the coil. Disconnect when done. I want to use the tach as a tool not permanent. I don't like the look of the tach on the handlebars nor the cost of the big dog tach.

A dwell meter is what you want. Has a special clamp style or an old clothespin end that goes over the spark plug lead. Set the dwell to rpm [increments of 50rpm] and that might get you there. No permanent tach needed.

Need to make sure it is setup for a two cylinder type engine. Connects to a plug or coil wire?
Set it to a 4 cyl and divide by 2.
If the ignition fires once per cylinder cycle.

thanks guys. that is exactly what i was looking for something simple to use. im ordering the tool today.
