Tear down rev 2

Alright been having problems with the pit bulls compression releases backing out..
This was the only thing that I took to a shop to rebuild and after many tries decided to get after the problem. Problem found the threads are completely stripped??? Thought about tapping it but decided that I am going to remove the motors and tear down the rear head. Get it machined and this time do it myself.

Paul instead of a tap use a thread chaser. It will not cut as much metal out like a tap will. Good luck!

Looking forward to retirement
Can't you just put a heli-coil in it?
No you can not. Way to much torque. I own a machine shop & Popsicle is correct. They use a lighter rod specifically for this and weld the hole up. Then re-drill and re-tap it. Anything short of that and you will be doing another tear down! I may still have a few pounds of these rods. They worked great when customers would snap a bolt head off. I would put a nut over the snapped off bolt shaft and weld it to the nut. Then back the bolt out. My dad use to say a gorilla can snap off a bolt but a wise man can remove one! Like I said. Heli coil's are great but they have their place & time. On top of a head under compression is not one of them!
