Tank Liner

So I finally got around to installing the wire plus and when I pulled the tank to get to the wiring, I hear something rolling around inside the tank. Turns out the tank liner had come apart in pieces and needed to be removed. Had no noticeable symptoms before discovering the problem,

After reviewing threads here on BDB, I decided to remove all I could with a plumber's claw tool, keep the tank full and ride. Took a 5 mile test ride and had no issues - hopefully my cleaning job did the trick.

I may consider sending the tank to Fuel tank Services next winter depending on how things go this summer.

Found some wonderful things - some hard plastic-like pieces and some thin seaweed-like pieces - here are some pics (seaweed on the left, hard plastic on the right, close-ups below):

Never could understand why it was put in the tank in the first place. Does any other manufactor do this?

Yup, been there also. Had Fuel Tank Services do mine 2 years ago. Expensive but he did a good job. There's a few guys on here that have had some good success doing it themselves for just the cost of materials. Might be the way to go so as not to lose out on your summer riding if it starts becoming a nuisance..

Best of luck.
