Taillights blinking erractly after new battery installed

I have searched the forum few a few days trying to find anyone with the same problem. This one has got me floored..

2003 Pit Bull. Installed a new battery last week, didn't take any chances and bought the exact same battery as I took out of the bike. Checked the charge on the battery and its sitting at 12.8 to 12.9. The battery fires up the bike fine and it runs well.

The problem lies in my rear turn signals and brake lights. After the battery was installed, they blink irradicaly and the brake lights do not come on when the brake is depressed. Here is the kicker, after about 15 minutes of running the lights quit blinking and just remain on (like tailslight should) but no signals work or brake lights and bike still keeps on running well. Checked the grounds and cleaned them and reattached. Problems remains. Is there something special I need to do on a 2003 pitbull after replacing the battery to reset the system?

What is the charge rate when the bike idles. New battery may be running at total loss is a fresh battery and you just checked static. How about running so we get that out of the way like what is compression is get that out of the way in the very beginning so we do not chase our tail.

The question is, why the battery change? The next question is, was this doing this before the new battery?

The only way to go there is if the battery banged into a wire harness, you strap some pinch to the wire in the harness when the battery was installed. If nothing is close to the battery, why are you looking at the connectors that were in perfect running condition before the new battery?

Sounds like you may have answered your own question. Without waiting for an answer, I'd look at the black box to find a reset button. I'll take a guess and say, who knows if it is going back to memory on the relearn, if no reset is pushed [if button applies]. Go take a look see.

Check the wiring 'under' the rear fender. It sounds like a connection that's loosening on vibration. Maybe a rubbed wire shorting out....?? Let us know what ya find.
