tag mount busted off the frame!

so i was riding to a wedding and when i get there my tag is just hangin by the wire. it turns out, the tab that is welded to the frame, busted off at the weld. now that i look closer...it looks like this may have happened before as it kinda looks like a small area around it was repainted. also only showing weld on one side rather than both. lucky for me i need a new rear tire anyway, so i can just get it welded back on when i do the tire. hope all the other welds are stronger than that one!

don't shoot the messenger. bike may have been laid down which could have caused the weld to break.

I'm pretty sure mine's on a bracket, but that could be the difference before 04 and 06. I agree with woodbutcher. It sucks not knowing the history on the bike.

that is very possible. would also explain the 124 motor upgrade. there are some marks under the primary cover...but not enough of a mark that it appears it was laid down. maybe knocked over? maybe a sharp corner?

well it is on a bracket...that is bolted to a welded bolt tab to the frame.

my tab broke at the bolt doing 75 down the trpk. plate hit the schrader valve and instant flat tire.

wasnt happy :angry:
