Interesting on the Air Bleed for BDM. My 2005 does have it. I guess it all depend on which old or new stock they grabed at the time.

Gas Man, the reason that mechanic told me I needed a new ignition is that the stock one are not that good and they are not tunable. He also said they are not hot enough for the G carb with the breather system I have. Does that sound correct to you? Also, how much does your ignition sell for and is it tunable. One more thing if you don't mind; is there anything I have to worry about if I remove the vent screw from the bowl?

Yes, the stock ones like I posted in the pic are non-tunable. They are fine for the G carb as that is what everyone is using in 2004, 2006+. Only the 2005 came with the E. The breather doesn't matter on this topic. YOu can run the rear breather to the ground (suggested).

The new ignitions Dyna or Crane (I have the Crane hi4) will run ya like $250. Plus $10 for a pick up cup.

As far as the vent screw... not sure... I think alot of that is dependant on the type of air cleaner setup.

Welcome to HRB. Next go to the intro section and tell us about yourself and post a pic of your bike.

As for your carb. When you removed the plates did you replace with the spacer plates?
If you were to buy the BR pipes from BD then they would have come with a 31/76 jet combo.
You didn't mention what part of the country you live in as that effects jets.
You didn't mention what you are running for an aircleaner either.

Give us a bit more info to work with.

Enjoy the site,

I don't think the Super G has restrictor plates ... I've been looking for spacers for my Super E ... just my .02 cents :hi:

Gas Man, I just got off the phone with my BD dealer and he told me he does not know what to do from here. He talked to BD tech yesterday afternoon and they told him to clean the carb out and increase the size of the air bleed jet to 052. According to him they already have the air bleed opened to 046 and they have cleaned the carb out two times already. He did suggest that I install my stock air cleaner system and try that. He also told me that BD tech called S&S and the first thing S&S asked is if the vent screw form the bowl had been removed. They told S&S that it has not been removed and S&S said "good". I guess S&S does not recommend removing the vent screw; they did not tell him why! At this point I have no idea what to do for sure. I am going to try to pick the bike up today and maybe tonight try the stock air breather system and see what happens! If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them!!

thats strange - I can't find it on the website but the instructions for your air cleaner says to remove the bowl vent screw - the reason I know this is because I used them to fit mine

Lee, are you saying that the instructions for the S&S Single Bore Induction system said to remove the bowl vent screw?

KK,

Hell if nothing else remove the vent screw and see how it does. If not mistaken you can always put it back in. THe .56 for the air bleed seems awful high, but never know.

From what I got out of the S&S Shorty instruction, the vent screw is there for normal use, but may needed to be removed for carbs with open stacks or no air filter. As many indicated, seems if you get allot of air, more than likely is when it would be removed. With those two snorkles hanging out there, this may be a situation that removing such may be better.

If you do and it seems to be better, may want to consider changing the air bleed back to something lower and start making little adjustments and see if gets better.

Good luck

Thought I would let you know that I removed the vent screw last night and what a difference. The bike runs great now and there is no flat spot anywhere now. A couple of questions though; does anyone know why removing the vent screw corrected the problem and what is its purpose in the carb. Also, is there anything I have to worry about with it being removed; such as sucking in dust & dirt or any other issues?

glad you got it sorted :2thumbs: now you can see why you have to try and learn this stuff as much as you can as some of these dealers are not up to the job sometimes - the combined knowledge about these bikes on this forum cannot be equalled in my opinion
