Stock turn signals wiring

I am removing my small billet turn signals on my 2002 pitbull and placing the stock ones on to pass inspection.
This may sound stupid but I can use the same wires right? The guy I bought the bike from said he to remove the back tire to change the turn signals and i can't fiqure out why he said that.If you just take the lences out all I saw you have to do is take the bolt out and cut the wire to remove the turn signal. Then just install the wire to the stock turnsignal and rebolt it
This sound right,I am confused about why he had to take the back tire off.

I decided to just use the existing wiring and just shove it in the stock housing.I cut the wire to get it out of the billet signals and then placed it in the stock housing.Somehow I shorted out the whole right side front and back
turn signals. The running lights do work though.I can't fiqure it out it is only 1 wire plus a ground.

When I changed mine out I just took out the four bolts on the fender supports and unplugged the wire harness, took off everything together. Real easy to work on once the fender and all are sitting on the bench. Check your bulbs and make sure their dual filament. Some of those lights come as single filaments. Is the left side working?

I was only working on the right front,I haven't even gotten to the rear yet
The left side is working.
I switched bulbs from the left to right but it still does not work. The blinker indicator on the dash also doesn't work on the right side either.

Did everything work fine before you touched it?

If so..

Go back and undo what work you did and temporarily reconnect the old light to check that it still works.
