I just purchased an 05 mastiff w/117 cu. inch S&S. The only upgrade is SuperTrapp Mean Mother Exhaust. What are the must do's and have's for the bike. I have heard something about restrictor plates on the Carb. New to the Big Dog World so anything helps.

Hobgood,
take a look at these threads:

http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/general/11756-advice-4-noob-would-me.html

http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/technical/11198-torque-specs.html

and familiarize yourself with the How-To's...

Don't get wrapped up in moding your bike right away. Get your knowledge base up and your tools and reference material in order FIRST. This way, when you do something to the bike, you know what your torque specs are and what tools you'll need and how to tweak this and than as nothing is bolt on.

About the easiest thing you can do to a bike (or car) is put fuel in it!:D Everything else will require a plan, some patience and $$. (read my sig).

Good luck, you are in the right place!

Thanks guys I talked to my local Big Dog Dealer today. He suggested a .600 cam and air cleaner. He is going to service the bike next week and get everything the way I want it. He is going to check the carb out to make sure we get that restrictor plate out and proper jetting. I also bought some Hooker Troublemaker Pipes at a deal. Even if I don't like them I only got $180 dollars in them. Thanks again

There is a pretty good chance you may have to do valve springs too.

I think that the valve spings are included in the cam changeout. Good point.
The newer dogs have the larger springs but with 05 being the first year for all the epa crap I'm not sure. I know my brother in-laws 05 had to have new springs. I would question your dealer. This way you know exactly what your getting.

Good luck
John
