Still getting used to the Dog.....

Energy One
Had a rough first full riding week with the dog  since I got it. Of course up until this point all the things like leaving the enrichner on too long will fowl the plugs, was learned after the fact! :D, but yesterday I took the bike out, and everything was running fine, about 20 minutes into my run BAM! all of a sudden I couldn't do more then 25mph with backfiring, or stalling. Got the bike home (thankfully I was close!), Checked the plugs again, they looked good, decided to check the gas tanks (yeah, I know real guiness move) and noticed that although there was gas in the tank it seemed a little low on the right side tank.

There was about 80 miles on the odometer, and reading from the forum it seems that for local driving this may seem about average milage. Filled up the right and left side (the right-side took about a full gallon more then the left filling up) started up the dog, and it had a healthy bark.

Two questions.... First does the low mph, and backfiring sound like a symptom of low gas (obviously the stalling)?, and second, is there a better method to get the gas to flow equally between the two tanks? Like I said the right tank seem to be much lower then the left.

were you on reserve when it was cutting out?i also have an 04 masstiff.make sure your crossover hose is clear and the tubes the hose connects to are clear from obstructions.

You may need to pull your cross over tube and clean it out. I have seen where the cross over hose gets some what plugged with small pieces of tank liner or other shit in that will slow down the flow. :whoop:

Good Luck

hey bro,i was just reading your thread again.if your right side is lower than the left side than the fuel is flowing through the crossover.maybe petcock or check the vent hose than runs under the tank and down to a check valve.theres also a crossover tube at the top of the tank under your dash panel.just another thought.:)
