Iv got a 06 K9 that im having problems with. It started for me fine at the beginning of the ride but 20 miles later we stop for gas and it would'nt start. It sounds like the compression releases aren't engaging because the motor barely gets through about 2 rev's. and then i notice smoke under the seat i look and its my wire ontop of the starter under the battery tray. The insulation is melting and is smoking hot. The connection is tight but the stud coming out of the top of the starter seems to be loose. Is this looseness from extreme heat or ?

The Loose connection could be your problem. I has the same situation about two weeks ago. My dog would not start and I notice smoke coming from under the seat. It was the seat was the back side of the seat (metal part) grounding out the neg post. I guess I had to may wires on that post. So I moved the extra accessory wires to the side post (my battery has and either top or side mount) and then I took a smaller bolt and put the battery cable on the top as it was before giving me a little more clearance. The bike started right up as soon as I took the seat off. Since then I have lowered the battery tray so that shit won't happen again. :2thumbs:
