Need help the dealer that is working on my bike ordered a cable that goes on the starter. It goes from one side of the starter to the end cap of the starter. They have tried to contact BDM and they aren't getting any respose back from them. I was wondering if they can replace the cable or do they need to replace the starter? if so does anyone have the part number for the cable or starter.

Is this a heavy gauge cable?

What is wrong with the one you have?

Some of the cables have had the insulation dry up and and come off. Others have repaired this with tape and or heat shrink.

If it is the large cable, a piece of large heat shrink works great. and if they say you need a starter do it yourself not to hard, most dealers cause more problems then they fix.

if you are talking about the one that is on the right side by the belt drive, then yes it is only about 3-4 inches long. They did the 500 mile serive and notice it being badly dry rotted and rubber breaking off of wire and contacted BDM to order it since the bike is still under warranty

Thats a common problem with a lot of bikes not just a BD. It may be under warranty but you can fix it your self for cheap and be back on the road. Just my .02

I would think the cable would be ok, if its just the boot go to your auto parts store and see what they have or just slide a piece of heat srink on it.
