starter/solenoid question

I just received my slam button from WSW. I'm hoping that my only problem is dirty contacts or grounds. I thought that this would be a good time to add the slam button while I have it apart.
when I opened it up to clean the contacts I noticed that my plunger end is loose. I believe that this disc should be attached to it. Is this something that can be fixed or do I need a new one? If fixing is possible how do I go about doing it? Is it as simple as just putting it back together or will it eventually shift and cause issues?

Thanks for the link but I already read all those pages and know how the cleaning process is done. I just need to know if the loose disc is a problem and if so how do I go about reattaching it?
update: I'm having it tack/spot welded back on.
