Starter problems.

I own a 2004 big dog chopper with 107 s&s. I’m running a 1999 Harley evo starter,
Starter shaft. I am having problems where I hit my slam switch and the bolt on the starter keeps breaking loose. I’ve bought a whole new starter shaft and got it on tight and it still breaks loose after two spin overs. I would love to know what starter/ starter shaft combo everyone is using or help on fixing this problem.

the bolt on the shaft just loosens up after a few starts? Doesn't that bolt have a locking tab? It's been many years since I have had to take the 04 apart. Shouldn't spin out with the locktab.

I believe for EVO motors that jackshaft bolt is 18-22 ft/lbs then lock it down.

I have a 2004 Chopper also. There is a slot and lock tab that goes onto the jack shaft bolt. Here's a photo of mine.
Yep that's what I thought!

Sounds like the guy is missing some parts!

Call Donna @HDM, she can get you a new Bolt, washer and locknut!
