Standard vs roller rocker

Anyone ever had an issue with s&s standard rockers, I noticed that j&p cycle catalog says the standard rockers are only rated for a max lift of 585. I have heavy motor work done, heads, oversized valves, compression, internal ignition, xxx carb etc, and I'm keeping it somewhat mild with a 600 cam. Besides the usual obnoxious noises from my rockers I swear I can hear a chatter at about 2k rpm that sounds like possible rocker bushings or something related. Anyone running these rockers with no iissues?

Are you sure its not your gas tank vent broken loose from your gas cap bung.

Im sure its not my gas cap. I have already checked into that several times. Its just a slight chatter around 2k or so, it's not that bad. I'm just more or less wondering if anyone else is running stock (non-roller) rockers with aftermarket valve springs cam etc. I didnt know there was a max lift for these rockers

I ended up calling s&s directly. They told me it is not a necessity, just creates less drag on the valve stem and they are even louder than the standard style. Just what I need, a louder valve train. They are the best they offer so i bought them anyways.

he didn't say the gas cap, he said the vent pipe inside the filler neck. ask ray about rebuilding the top end of his motor. :roll::roll::roll:

vibration can break the vent tube loose at one end and it will drive you nuts looking for problems.

Finished up with the roller rockers, very easy install. Turns out the roller rockers make less noise up top, the sound isn't quite as sharp as the standard style. My old bushings were in fact over the wear limits as well at 20k miles, according to my s&s service manual.
