not a cure all for everyone... I had to use it 3 seperate times in 500 miles and have since given up on it. I did measure my shocks (dyna frame with external works shocks for those who are unfamilar) yesterday after reading another thread on alignment and one was 3/4 of an inch longer without a rider and 1/4 of an inch longer with. I am not sure how they got out of adjustment but going to try that next.

Man, all that stuff is freakin' me out!
Only had the bike a couple of weeks and I hate to have to drop another load of cash on it.
I called the dealer today and told him the following:
Belt is squealing all the time it is under any type of load.
When you nail it, and get it up in high rpms, sometimes it vibrates hard and will pop, kinda like the belt slipped a tooth.
They said bring it in, so it goes in today.... damn, I hate that.
He did say they put a new compensating sproket on it just before I bought it.... maybe that could be a problem.
The mechanic has many years of experience on dogs, so we will see just what the verdict is.:bang:

Don't Worry!...Be Happy!....It's still under "Warranty"! :D:2thumbs:

I'm "Not" going to say it again! :zzdisappointed:

All you've got to do is "Properly Align & Tension" the secondary drive belt, and go from there like I said in my last post!

"OFF YOUR AZZ and ON YOUR FEET"! does this phrase remind anyone of anything?...hum..........:roll::roll:

:2thumbs::cheers::2thumbs::cheers::2thumbs::cheers: and "BE HAPPY"! :D

Ok,
Picked the bike up from the dealer and here are the results.
The mechanic said that the belt was a little loose and the rear wheel was out of alignment.
He tightened the belt and aligned the wheel.
It is about 95% better. Only a little noise sometimes.
Guess I am just used to ridin my harleys.
Anyway, I figured that a little of that teflon spray might just finish the other 5%. Sprayed it last night and I will ride it back to the dealer this afternoon.... Why do you ask?
The tach took a shit when I picked the bike up.
Although it only has a hand full of miles on it, it is an 04, so the warranty is the tail light type.
It is nearly 40 miles to the dealer, but they wouldn't fix it while I was there.... now one more trip back to the dealer.
Third time this week.
He says the tach ring went out. Oh boy....

Ok, after alignment and a little spray, no noise after 250 miles.
I will post if and when the squeak comes back. Hopefully no more posts to this thread:whoop:

Hey Dead, read and followed procedure to align. The wife's 2003 Mastiff has a squeak that recently started and the belt has no deflection. Seems way to tight! I loosened the axle nuts, backed off on the adjusting set screws but the axle seems to be locked in place. With so much tension on the belt, seems like it would move forward with the set screws backed out. Am I missing something here?

bad brad, not sure about the 03 but my 04 has 2 set screws, remove the outer set screw and theres another one on the inside that is the adjuster.again thats the way it is on the 04.mobsta

Brad,
Mobsta is very correct :2thumbs:, 2 set screws. 1 is used for locking the set screws and the other is used to allow movement. Just keep in mind that deflection is no more that 1/2" @ 20lbs. of up or down pressure, mid-span of the belt between pulleys.

Good Luck!

Thanks guys. Couldn't quite figure out why the wheel would not move after removing what I thought was a single set screw. I've got the tank off her bike right now about to reline it with Caswell. Pulled out a pile of crud/liner last night. But that's a whole other thread. Going to do a "how to" if it all turns out well. If not, I'll do a "how not to" reline a gas tank. Thanks again.

Really interested to see "how to" re-align the tank on that Mastiff. My 02 isn't aligned at all. The tabs cracked before when I "forced" it into place. I had those fixed and now I'm not going to try and "force" it, I want to see "how to" already know one way of "how not to." Please PM when if or when you post.
Good Luck!

No Mongo, I'm re-lining the tank and re-aligning the belt. The belt is too tight and the liner on the inside of the gas tank is peeling away causing problems with fuel flow. Sorry to mix the 2 threads up.

Proper tension and alignment. Inspect the sprockets for tooth wear and replace if wear is noticable along with new belt. Mine would squeak when the belt would track over and rub the side flange on the rear pulley. The belt had glazed over on the side of the belt and I couldn't keep it off the side of the pulley due to wear on the sprocket. Others here have used soap, wax, and the cure-all WD-40. Only temporary fixes.

So, I spray mine down weekly just like I check the battery lugs, tire pressure, exhaust studs and many other things. Just preventive maintenance.

What choices you make depends on how many miles you do. If you are just barhopping all the time then I would just spray it down weekly and not worry about the squeal.
If you are a long distance rider and put on 20,000 miles a year like several here do then I would have the Supermax pulley alteration done which is what I will be doing this winter.
I'm on my second pully and belt after 60,000 miles so in the long run the Supermax makes sense for me but may not for you.

Hey Ray I had a squeaking noise on my belt realigned my back tire and set the tension at a half-inch with at 10 pounds. Now it's making a humming type of sound. Any ideas on what it could be maybe my belt is too loose now. Getting frustrated
