Hey guys, i was thinking of putting a spike air intake on my bike. The few people i talked to i heard mixed reviews that it might restrict air flow...i would like to here your opinion and if u have any other suggestions????

Just installed one on my bike and I have no problems..I have it mounted vertical.
I have seen posts where there are issues when mounted horizontal..

After seeing Splitlogs in Fayettville one year I started running mine vertical and no problems since. Thanks Al :D

I now run mine vertical as well and no issues! When horizontal doing 80 down the highway was hard to hold one speed but not now!

I am going to be selling one in perfect condition for maybe $300. It's off the bike just need to get pictures. Bike had 1190 miles on it when taken off. Bike ran great with it on.

on youtube you can watch Bikers Dream of Atlanta do a dyno run on a Big Dog showing the difference between a spike and the dual runner. The dual runner has a small edge over the spike( 3 hp I think), so it cant be restricting to much. If the carb is right you can run a spike in any position without issue.

I also want to upgrade my air cleaner but my question is how do these exposed elements work in the rain. I rode 6 hours in pouring rain with the stock shit and didn't have ANY issues.

They make a rain sock to put over it

I got a rain sock for mine. No problems with the rain.

Ooh great!! I asked badyellowvette if I could buy his spike off him when he first bought the bike and stated he didn't like the intake. His reply....maybe. Now after all the torment with him stalling on getting the bike and now this! I guess I'm going to really have to beat him down.
