Speedometer reset

I thought I posted this but maybe I didn't, was riding and rain up in Cherokee couple weeks back I had a lot of rain wrote through some big puddles and my speedometer went out. I've put 225 miles on The bike sense and it's only showing the 225 miles. I was getting ready to turn over 8,000 mi when this happened, was like 6 mi away from 8,000. if anybody has any idea how to reset so I can get my current miles back on this speedometer I would greatly appreciate it.

A little more info would help... What year and model? Original speedometer or aftermarket Dakota Digital or ? Really grasping here but are you sure you haven't cycled through and showing one of the "Trip" settings as opposed to the odometer?

My bike is an '07 bulldog fuel injected here's a picture of the speedometer and yes I did try to hit the button and reset things but it did not work. When I went through that stream of water it knocked the whole speedometer out blinkers didn't work lights didn't work nothing got back to the hotel once it stopped raining got on it drove a few miles it started to come back to life, but it only shows the current miles that I'm putting on it now which is 225.
