see, sometimes it's good to have us old farts around just to find out how it used to be. :oldlaugh::oldlaugh::yesnod::yesnod:
That's funny Tom, when I am at work now I look around and all of a sudden I realized that "I" am the "Old Guy" now! Lol! I am the one everyone comes to for answers, without us "old guys" the "young guys" would be screwed! Who would they go to for answers to their questions?????
Lol!

My tach is intermittent. This tells me:

1. Hall effect or the output signal at the magnetic pickup is fine. How so? When you ride and it begins to work again, no hard parts have failed, she comes back on line again = If it's not hardware, it's software. Make sense?

2. RAM vs. ROM is when RAM has saved a steady 50 mph and the needle is at this stuck point is to turn the key off, flip the RAM to ground, flop returns to ROM, or say you killed the bike, here comes the needle sweep to zero, you start it back up [from key off, not kill at the switch] so the flip-flop happens.

3. Note the update at the Hbox is to flash this issue... Or... this saved glitch and the only way to loophole a flash is to wipe the RAM and return to ROM; in a key-off kind of flash to zero-out. This is a non-moving hall effect that clears the speedo signal of this stuck 50 mph save is more or less give that a try.

4. You'd think metal contamination would be stuck to the iron core or the magnet bar [pickup] would have a hunk of metal to cause a leading-trailing edge to be corrupted, but notice how the speedo comes back on line = Software glitch is my guess?
