Speedometer / Cable for 99 BD PROsport

Speedometer quit working but suspect bad cable. Removed speedometer and cable from the cable housing going to front wheel. I stuck the cable end into the speedometer and spun the cable. Speedometer showed to respo d and move. However, cable end tht goes to front wheel hub seems buggerd or broken off. Not sure how to remove the cable housing from the front wheel hub. Cable may be broken off inside the front wheel hub.
Question 1: does the front wheel hav to be removed in order to remove the cable housing?
Question 2: who stocks the speedo cable?
I appreciate any help..

I would be surprised if any v-twin shop could not provide a replacement cable. In 1999 your BD was essentially a kit of after market parts for a Harley type bike. I have never had to find an OEM BD part except seats and a speedo.

BigDogRick, thanks for the info. I would like to find a good parts supplier that can normally provide parts support for my BDM that I can go to via online or phone. I actually I live in Breckenridge, TX., about 100 miles West of Ft. Worth and 50 miles Northeast of Abilene. I have attempted to ask Kent's Harley in Abilene a few questions, and I was not pleased with them. Their parts man didn't seem very interested in helping me. Once you mention, Big Dog, they really not concerned with helping. So, I really don't know what model of Harley that I could use as a cross reference.

Well, I called Dennis Kirk Retail store in Rush City, Minnesota to see if they may have the Speedo Drive Unit for my BDM, a lady answered the phone and I asked to speak to parts dept, and she said that I was speaking to parts dept. I continued to tell her the part that I was looking for and she had no idea what Big Dog was. She wanted to know if it was a model of Harley. I tried to explain. I gave up and told here that she doesn't seem to be able to help.

I had same problem ones... took my old cable to Harley dealer and they match it
