I got my new speedometer today with the new bracket and wanted to post some pictures of them for all of you that may be getting this mod. The new speedo needle is slower than the old one and does ride better down the road without twitching. The new bracket angles the speedo down so I can look directly into it unlike the old bracket. It's still to close to the tank though!
Enjoy,
Ray

Here is the old speedo. Check out the odometer button. Also notice the fogging from my ride to the dealer It was worse when I first got there.

Here is the new speedo and you can see the difference in the button, it looks to be one piece vice two. I did check out P8RIOT's new 07 and he has the same button though.

Here is the big difference. This is the old bracket compared to the new one. My old one was chromed but the new one isn't so will need to send it out when I can. Notice how wide it is? It really beefy!

The new speedo added 166 miles to your total?
Very observant Knotso, the mileage on the new speedo was taken in my garage after getting home and a good day of riding around the pennisula.

I got my reply from BDM, I just need to take in in and get my second new speedometer. Not in any hurry though. Glad to hear they still have the blue light.

I wish you had a comparison of the 2 brackets.... cause that don't look alot beefier than mine...

Okay Gas, lay of the Oxygen. The last picture shows the old bracket on top of the new one. Almost three times bigger! :eek:

Lookin' good Ray. :2thumbs:

Hey Bdmridgeback, can I have my chopper bars back? just kidding but I have run into a serious problem after selling my chopper bars and buying a set of ridgeback bars and mounting them to my chopper. I love the feel of the ridgeback bars and being vertically challenged that I am, I don't have to stretch as much especially in tight turns however after mounting the ridgeback bars it brought the speedometer and it's bracket so close to the gas tank that now it's scraping the paint off my tank. I don't think the new improved speedometer bracket will help either based upon Rays comment;

You people that have 05 ridgebacks, how close is your speedometer & bracket to your tanks? Does anyone know if the speedometer brackets for the chopper & ridgeback are the same or could I possibly order a speedometer bracket for a set of ridgeback bars to bring the speedometer up away from my tank? Also maybe the two bikes have a different position of the gas tanks on the frame that would result in the stock ridgeback speedo & bracket having enough clearance. Grateful for any input, don't want to have to take the time to design and have a new speedo bracket built now, just before riding season. I really don't want to raise the handle bars with spacers either because these are a perfect fit for me, that's the reason I sold the chopper bars.

The new longer bars come with a new longer speedo mount. I got it when I ordered my new bars off eBay.
I will post pics of the size difference when I get on my mainframe computer.

Just had this change done last week which caused a new problem,,,is anybody elses speedo crooked? Mine looks like I have it twisted so 70mph is straight up. My dealer says he has to check with the factory as there doesn't appear to be a way to correct it. Any ideas?

Mine is off just slightly as well... not too much but if you look hard enough it isn't straight... I think Kam noticed it though.
