What's the price on one of these?, what was the cause of mine going wrong?

I don't know what caused it, like mine when it died I did not try to fix it, its electronic and its a sealed unit, you will damage it when you try and pull it apart. The chrome bezel on the front is crimped on the housing. It was easier to replace it and the Dakota ran me about $217 and it was plug n play for my Dog. I got mine on E-bay

The cause is that it is a mechanical device, with tender moving parts. There is a thread somewhere that talked about how much vibration these bikes make. If I remember correctly, there is 50 G's of vibration at the head light and battery box.

Believe Matt Moore chimed in and said that's why they ditched them Coleman wanted them analog but they couldn't hold up and the later models got that digital one. Now they just use Dakota's on the new bikes.

I'm not disagreeing with Chucky, I'm just telling you that I can't see mine when the sun is behind me I can't read the speed on my red one. Chucky may have better vision than me. The view in full sunshine is very similar to the view you get when doing a video of the digital tach.
Haha I believe you Paul. I dont believe Chuck...

You are correct Shannon. There is also a video on bigdogisback.com where Matt is talking about the battery box and such hitting up to 50 G's of vibration.

Do you wear polarized lens in your sunglasses? I have noticed my polarized sunglasses make it a little more difficult to read a digital gauge on some bikes in direct sunlight.

Since last year I have the DAKOTA blue,
mounting is very simple and works wonderful,
no problem.
In direct sunlight I can recognise the digital speedo good!

This is why I got a blue one, there's no debating whether or not ya can see it, I didn't mean to feed ya to the wolf's PK. If ya want, I can change my mind and say I have a red one and I can't see it either.:willynilly::oldhardlaugh:
