Speedo replacement

I bought a used speedo off this board. I installed it all the lights worked. The hand goes through the sweep, after the bike is started the hand on the speedo goes up to 30 and stays there. Is there any fix or am i just stuck with someones else prob. with the speedo. help.

Did you have the same problem with your previous speedo or is this behavior new on your new speedo?
What was/were the issue/s with your previous speedo?

MY FIRST SPEEDO DID NOT WORK AT ALL. THIS PROB. IS NEW. EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT FOR THE SPEED. IT STICKS AT 30 DOES NOT MOVE UNTIL I KILL THE BIKE. IT WILL SWEEP WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED ON ,BUT GOES TO 30 WHEN I START THE BIKE.

Did you ride the bike, maybe when it gets to 30 it will work it's way from there. Also remove the senor on top of the tanny clean it and reintall it, that may be your fix.

When you turn the key on what exactly does the speedo do and for the first three seconds what does the odometer read?
