Solenoid won't engage

Any trouble shooting ideas for a solenoid that won't engage when you hit the start button? i've done the following:

1)tightened/cleaned battery terminal connections and checked battery for full charge

2) removed solenoid cover , cleaned copper ring and contacts.

3) manually engaged solenoid and no problem starting

3) checked for power going to the solenoid by touching contact on top of solenoid w/ screw driver to metal and getting a spark

When I put the solenid cover back on and tried starting it with key on and run/start button the solenoid still won't engage.

When I turn the key on a light turns on at the EHC indicating power to the EHC. Then when I hit run another lights turns on at the EHC and when I hit start another one turns on so it seems that the switches are sending a signal to the EHC....

Circuit board...

I found my plug came off the printed board in the handle bar controls. The EHC looks for a break in the negative circuit coming back from the switch...Then it will energize the solenoid.

Also, have you checked for the 12 volt signal wire at the starter. It is the switch power that comes from the EHC. Its a small green wire with black shrink wrap over it. With the wire pulled off (spade connector in plastic housing on the top of the starter) Hit the run, then start and see if you get voltage.

If its not in the hand control... it may be...gasp... the ehc
