Small Problem

I am a new 2008 BDM Pitbull owner and very proud. I bought a sissy bar and I have had a lot of problems taking the small allen wrench bolts out of the bottom holding brackets that lock it into place. They keep stripping out. Are they just crappy bolts or is there a trick to something that I am missing. Maybe the chrome is laid to thick in the threads. I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks
Farley

do you mean to say the actual threads of the bolts are stripping off/out or that the cap head screw is rounding out as in your allen wrench is twisting in the socket?

Did someone use locktight on 'em? Red? Are they out now at least or jacked up stuck in there?

Post an intro and welcome to the lb.

ya i do know a good many of the bolts on my bike are shit.

{That's embarrassing btw BDM. I'll pay a little more for quality USA bolts and bearings - think about it.}

I can get you the BDM parts littlef66 ... but if you want a different source we'll need to look around a bit. ACE Hardware seems to have a good stock.

I was wondering if you know of any places that might sell these small replacement bolts.
well some like that are fairly standard cap head screws/bolts that can be sourced many places in either SS or Chrome. I've found Agri Supply, Tractor Supply, NorthernTool to have 'em in SS in a pinch (probably import like most chain Auto part stores anymore it seems but just a guess, I don't know that to be true/false). Some of the other bolts like shoulder bolts (foot pegs) harder to find. Just broke one last weekend....:bang: :bang: :bang:
