Side Covers

Why do some side covers include the flames and other matching graphics and some are just plain when the rest of the body parts have graphics?

Because that's the way they were painted.

well, i guess there's your sign. honestly, there could be any number of reasons. one in particular, back in early '08 model year, the company admitted there was a problem with the system for mounting the side covers (vibration was breaking the ears off most of them) so the came up with a system that included rubber isolation bushings. problem was, a lot of the side covers had already broken and were replaced with covers that didn't necessarily have the matching graphics. that is one of the reasons.

depended on what type of paint job was ordered.

Yep, I repaired mine and then had to send them back because they needed them to match the paint job on the new set, but I had asked if they could return the ones I had fixed with the new ones and they did. The new ones broke anyway so I put the original ones back on that I had fixed, I still have to repair the broken ones. But they did match the graphics on mine.
