Shredded Belt replacement

Hey guys, New member here just searching for any help or tips on replacing my drive belt. Im not switching to an open belt drive, I just need to replace my belt since my brother who also owns a big dog decided to borrow my left side passenger footpeg and left the bolt in the frame hole without telling me. Then while pullig out of my driveway for a scoot into philly on gorgeous sunday afternoon, the bolt falls into the path of the belt, gets sucked right into the sporcket and throws the belt off and shreds it in the process !!!

Ok thats enough fricken whining. I read the post from Alhall88 where he showed pics on how to remove the cases and so on ( very cool Alhall88) so im good with all that with the eception of where he placed that stop tool in order to loosen the center bolts on the chain driven pulleys. I can make a stop tool but I dont wanna position it wrong.

Also.. I haave that same squealing problem on the belt and cant seen to get it aligned properly from the back tire. It seems that as im backing the bike out of the garage, the belt wanders away from the frame ( to the left) and starts rubbing. Though in normal riding, it seems to track fine... does my tranny need to be shimmed???

Any responces would be great appreciated.

Thanks alot guys.

My pulley noise started at 8k miles. Have adjusted and aligned and blah blah blah.

The alum pulleys wear and that is one of the results.

I have tried every thing to find a long term fix.

Short of replacing the pulley, going chain drive, having a nylon insert installed or getting louder pipes, there arent a lot of fixes.

Some have been able to adjust it out and others have not. Start there first.

Also do a search, plenty of temp fixes as well.

Good luck
