No Derek isn't 18 again, & I doubt he would want to be that young!

shovelheadkicker on eBay as everyone knows hit the 18 YEARS of selling parts for Big Dogs to customers, this year marked the +1 year longer than the bikes were originally manufactured by the Original/Old Big Dog (94-11). The eBay account was opened on 03/09/2003.

I know for myself, I want to personally thank Derek & Donna for keeping us on the road all these years!

For anyone that didn't see the website email last night to subscribers. Here is a little of the excerpt for some history on the eBay account.

Eighteen years ago (3/9/2003) we started by selling liquidated and surplus parts from the original manufacturer of Big Dog Motorcycles (shovelheadkicker on eBay). Since then, we have continued to manufacture new parts for Big Dog Motorcycles with most of the original vendors.

Whether you are a new bike owner or one who has been with us for many years, we are grateful for you and the relationships we have built over 18 years.

Either enter the code '18years' at checkout or hell just click this link and it will automatically apply the 10% discount.

One of the old ones.
It was my understanding that Big Dog got in financial trouble and raised money selling inventory—Shovelheadkicker bought BD excess inventory at auction for resale. Common solution for cash strapped companies.

So maybe I’m not clear on the history, but how did he sell liquidated parts before they went out of business?

As a preface, that's a long time ago. The vast majority of the parts sold now are newly manufactured, new inventory.

Exactly, starting in 03 it was left over inventory from older phased out motorcycles or potentially some parts that were some kind of manufacture blem, warranty claim parts, etc.

The volume of inventory then increased as old Big Dog attempted to free up capital progressed when the market fell out in 08. That's when it started to be not necessarily left over or blem parts.

It wasn't really an auction until the very end. As a sole liquidator the agreement was to take everything at a set price, regardless what it was condition or volumes and wether he wanted it or not didn't matter. No cherry picking. Which is common for companies to use one liquidator to hide from public potential financial trouble.

May thanks to both Derek & Donna for having insight back then. And with the addition of Eric with his knowledge of Big Dogs came along to help them mature into a great company.
