Got an S&S 92" with Shorty "E". I have baffled Big Dog pipes that are stock with stock S&S air cleaner and housing. Carb adj are:
1 1/4 idle air
2 Turns out on Accel Pump
1/2 out Ilde
The above adj's were made with the engine warm.
Had a lot of decel pops with the stock .0295 intermediate jet, was also 3 1/2 turns out on the Accel pump. Went to a .031 with better results.
I now have infrequent back fires when I restart the engine HOT and have popping when throttle is advanced off idle. After a 1/2 mile or so the engine smooths out and runs good with some popping on decel.
I was told from the local shop that a .031 intermediate jet should be big 'nuff for my set up.
My gut feeling is I need to keep stepping up to a larger intermediate jet until this problem goes away?
I think I may have answered my own question...maybe I missed something?
This is a homebuilt bike with 1868 miles to date...I know you guys run S&S from your manufacture and may have a trick or too to share.
