With Big House talking about service costs for his big dog, and me just having service done on the wife's bike. I decided to scan in what the HD dealer gave me on their services along with prices.

Compare this to the BDM services...

BDM recommended service for my 2006 Chopper as an example, unlike like HD I don't think matters from bike to bike for us

What ya think?

I finally have my bike scheduled for the 500 mile service when I get back. I had such a shitty connection that he could barely hear me and I forgot to ask what they charge. :bang:

I still think the dealer is a rip off. Mostly what they are doing is sinspecting things. Look at what is actually being replaced. If you take that cost of parts and compare to the whole job, it's only a fraction. That's the reason I tell everyone to learn and do it yourself. Stop giving these stealers the money. Oil, filter asn primary fluid using say the best stuff synthetic which everyone knows cost more. Maybe $55 for 3 qts of oil, filter and primary fluid. Then these guys want over $200+ for this. What a rackett, just my 2 cents.

Agree, If you can't do it yourself and don't want to learn then you just have to pay.
It's just another Bike to most wrenches.

I want to know it's done right and only I can do that! :)

Blitz, if you paid $500 for the plan what made you decide to do it yourself?

Fact is Fellas, It's only been recently that you could do your own service (Pre Break in) without Voiding your Warantee. In my Opinion, they only loosened the noose on that because they knew they'd have a Shit load of Class action Lawsuits because of not being able to keep up with the service Demand. This is all Dealers, Not just BD. With the recent boom in bikes being purchased. thats a shit load of Service. Always Keep your reciepts.

The other thing is, 200 Dollars is not Un-Reasonable, if it's costing your 55 In materials, and they are actually checking everything on their list, then it's 2 hours to get it done. If you think that most dealers are getting between 75 and 95 an Hour. It's really not a Bad deal, especially early on for your first 2 or 3 services. Pop's and I bought a Service Plan for $500 Covered the 500 2500 anf 5000 Services. Although from 2500 on I've been doing my own.

Thank you Blitz for that. I always take any new vechicle in for its first service. After that I do my own. It is just for like things that happen. With the wife's sporty, they found the factory installed the wrong throttle cables. PERFECT EXAMPLE. Now after that I will do all the service myself.

Further, something funny... they guy asked me if I wanted to switch to synthetic. AT MY 1000 MILE SERVICE!! YIKES!! i said no thanks. Its too late in the season to worry about that... not to mention too early for the bike if you ask me.

re

If your taking it to Mancuso Powersports, it's a little 500. At least it was when I took mine in at the time. They might have raised the cost by now.

They told me it would cost $370 there, but I'm going to San Antonio because it's closer. It should be close to that price, I hope.
