My speedometer has been acting up some all this year so I finally pulled my sensor out and cleaned it. Been meaning to do it many times but other things always seemed to come first. Anyway went for a ride today to attend "church" and the speedo operated great. To my knowledge this is the first time it's been pulled since I bought it 5 yrs ago.

After it`s all cleaned, does it get reinstalled with any kind of oil or wd40 or anything?
No, I just made sure that the o-ring you see at the top of the plug was oiled. Slides right back in.

So Ray, does the speed operate any better now that you cleaned the sensor?
Well I only did a few miles today but it seemed to realy calm down the speedo needle. You can see it was pretty dirty!

Good write-up. Should be one of the first things on the trouble shooting checklist.

Part the the service your big dog how to. Its easy to do and easy to get at it. Kinda like the crank sensor. Doesn't hurt to pull each oil change and wipe clean.
