Seat with a Backrest?

Hey all -

Went for a nice ride from San Diego to Salton Sea to El Centro back to S.D. yesterday. Great ride! Approx. 275 miles total. By far the longest I've ridden in one day. Usually my sore right hand/forearm and sore ass limit me to ~100-150 mi/day.

Fixed the right arm issues by installing and using the Cruisemate - great device. Highly recommended!

Temp fix for the sore ass by using a gel pad that sits on top of the seat. Works for now - until I can get Seatmaker or Beezachopper to do my custom seat!!!

What I realized though is that a back rest would make a HUGE difference. I'd love a nice small seat with a small, unobtrusive backrest.

A simple example would be to look at the Corbin Gunfighter seat w/ ovalback back rest.

Anyone using something similar or know where to start looking?

Seatmaker/Beeza - any chance you guys can do something like this?

Ride safe.

A crampbuster will ease a lot if the pain in your hand and arm as it lets you palm the throttle. I've used it for 10 of thousands of miles and swear by it. I have the cruise-mate also and it's great too!

No issues with my seat but I do usually us a bag on the back to lean on. Hard to do long miles without!

I had Nelson do up an air cell insert seat for me, works great. I did a long tour into Main just after getting the seat, I was humping for 6 to 7 hours a day with no problem at all.

You may want to touch base with him before you do anything.

I would also add that the seat foam is not always the problem. But the shape of the seat.

Rich's Seat here in Seattle do a lot of BD and they always say the first request is to remove the curve and square if off more cause this is what put's pressure on your tail-bone! I will tell you from experience that my solo is way more confortable than the 2-up seat for me anyway.

You can see some of the curve taken out here:

Anythings possible. I'd prefer if you could make up the backrest since you can fit it to your bike.

I have a Mustang seat with a backrest on my K-9. It was for a 2007 harley softail. With a little modifying and a rivot tool it works great. I have a bad back and had to do something.. Check out my bike on members pictures....

You can see in my pic that my Corbin seat is set up for the slide in backrest. I will never buy the back rest, in fact I am going to have the seat recovered and eliminate the spot it slides into.
