Seat attachment on an 05 Chopper

Hey guys, been a busy Summer and haven't been on here as often as I'd like, hope everyones Summer is going well. Got a question. On my 05 Chopper there is a big patch of Velcro stuck on the rear fender, the tab on the front of the seat slides in the slot and then the seat slides backwards and grabs the Velcro. Is this how they came from the factory? If not, how is it supposed to be attached? And if it is, is there any better way to get it to stay put? Plan on painting the bike in the not too distant future and would hate to have to stick a big piece of Velcro on the render, its not seen but still. Without it the seat doesn't sit tight against the fender and could come off way too easily.

Ok after some searching I think I answered my own question. Suction cups correct? Now my bike is a flat or matte finish so maybe that's why it was changed. In any case I'll be going to a gloss clear when I repaint, does anyone have a picture of how these are set up on the underside of the seat? Thanks.

On my '05 chopper the suction cups are up near the top on the two outside corners... assuming you have the single seat. On a two up seat I think they are toward the back (rear outside) corners.

Joose3, yeah I have a solo, there are 2 round holes in the seat pan just where you mentioned, are the suction cups just pushed into those holes on yours, or is there an additional piece on the seat ? Someone must have rigged mine up at some point with the nasty Velcro. Thanks

Perfect, that makes life easy, I'll pick some up when I paint the Chopper. I was even looking into modifying a Triumph seat latch setup under the seat, pull a cable and it releases. Still might look into that one, it would lock it down. Thanks

3M makes a clear stick on paint protector like you see of the front of cars. You can cut a piece to fit under the seat where the suction cups stick to the fender to help prevent them from wearing into the clear coat. BD used to sell this pre cut but I don't know if there's any to be found any more.
