3:00 pm -My dog arrives in enclosed trailer courtesy of my buds at HD! I told
them that i couldnt afford the $1000 starter fix and i didnt have any way to get my dog home. The HD service guy offered to deliver my bike to my house FREE of charge! I spotted the starter i ordered 2 days ago under my front porch mat as i was watching the HD guy unload my bike ... ha!

8:00 pm -Me and my Buddy RIchie Rich began to break down the Dog. The
install went suprisingly smooth the hardest part inmy opinion was removing the plastic cover around the battery.

9:30 pm -Installs done put the key in on position pressed on switch and........................................................ YES!!! Cranked right up no problem.

This was my fist time ever working on a bike and Richie Riches first time ever working on a V-twin. Im guessing if I had to do the job again it could be done in 45-60 minutes.

My advice to everyone which im sure 98% of you all already know. Install your starter yourself. Done get fcucked by HD or anyone else.

My tachboard also came in yesterday I want to install that tonight. I looked at it last night for a inute but couldnt figure out how to open up speedo.. help?

Thanks to everyone for the help!

Great job NOLA although I would disagree with you in regards to "Everyone" some people, including some of the mechanics I have had the unfortunate pleasure of using, shouldn't go near tools.

nah I really wasnt even thinking about it to be honest..... i just wanted to cruise around after. Its Bike week here in NOLA and my bike has been down for a couple of days. I went to the french quarter but it was late and nothing was really going on. I dont drink anyways when im on my bike... ive only had it for a couple of months so im still getting used to it. I cant afford any stupid mistakes and poeple drive like shit around here so i wanna be 100% while im riding.

Cool deal, sometimes the hard things seem to go easy, but the easy things(in my case)can bite ya in the ass!!,,I think there are a couple of threads on here about changing your speedo "face",maybe that will help, good luck:cheers:

There are two mounting screws under the speedo housing. Make sure you cover the tank with a towel of something so you don't fuck up the paint. Take those two screws out, with the housing in you hands, look toward the rear of the housing and you will see one counter sunk screw take it off. Now you can pull the housing apart and you should be able to figure out the rest from there if not let us know

As I remember that is 1 tiny little countersunk allen head that holds the speedo together. 2 Allen bolts hold the speedo bracket to speedo also. Make sure you have allen wrench set in hand or close by when you dissassemble. Just my $.02
