Rubber handle bar bushings

Two years in a row I have replaced the rubber handle bar bushings (2006 Mastiff) and the rubber starts crumbling out while torquing at approximately 15ft lbs.
When I put apes on my bike, the rubber bushings were just to sloppy. I could move my grips about 4 inches. I replaced them with polyurethane bushings. They are a little stiffer, but still still have a little "give" in them.

I had poly and wanted to try rubber so I got them and installed and I didn't even try to ride it. Way too sloppy!

I was hoping it would take some vibration out even if I had to replace them every few years but just in my garage I knew it would just add more vibration so trash they went!

Last year installed new set from wildsteedworx and they immediately crumbled on the edges at 20ft Lbs of torque. Wildsteedworx sent me a new set for free and they also immediately crumbled on the edges when compressed around 15ft Lbs. Guess I’m getting dried out stock, idk.

That is strange, bought mine from Wildsteedworx a few years ago......no problems

i just purchased some from Big Dog themselves, they are red in color and a fairly hard material. they still have some give to them but much better than the OEM ones. i'll have to ride it some before I can say much more about them

Your personal preference guys...
I always liked the stock rubber bushings from 2004. I remember my chopper was in for service and recall upgrades, "V-twin" dealer put in the urethane bushings as part of a safety recall...

The change caused more handlebar vibration, hand fatigue and blurry images in mirrors; but I gotta say the increased vibration was cool being noticed at stop lights "shaken-it"! and apparently a chick magnet! -- so on balance, no complaints about the stiffy with urethanes... :chopper:
