thats a good point..I read alot about the "balance" BUT is there more to it?
Everyone has there own opinion on this subject and there are many threads here on it.
But I've owned both, 03 Mastiff LSD and now an 05 Chopper RSD and it's pretty clear to me.

:D

Ok....

07 K9 600 miles $17500 (final price, no negotiation)

05 Chopper 2500 miles $13800 (maybe a very lil negotiation)

WHAT DO YALL THINK??

I say don't let your ex see it before you buy...I had a year old demo on the line ..ex wanted to see it .. she noted ( and I agree) that I was settling for a "close enough" .. so I spent another 10k and got what I REALLY wanted.. happy for it ..it's a toy ..buy what you want.

I have way more into my pickup, yet it is the scoot I really like.

If it has tires n wheels, the monetary value will always go down, but when we never sell, what we have into these bikes/autos also never matters.

Point is, ride all the scoots you are interested in, do your research, buy a bike with a deal you are comfortable with and never second guess the purchase, just join us for a ride. Some get all wrapped up in the details and forget about the brotherhood and the meaning of what the bike is for each of us. Sure, some may be getting some smokin deals, but for the most part, one will not regret buying a Big Dog Motorcycle. make a deal, and the grin will be stuck to your face. You will wonder what took you so long to get one and will kick yourself for waiting so long. These bikes are just that good.

If there is a scoot in another part of the country and you want someone local to check it out, take oics, and give you an opinion, we are all here for that and more. Just shout out to us. But a scoot here and for a rtn plane ticket I will ride the scoot to your house, as any on here will do.

Keep the questions coming and also use the SEARCH feature as most every topic has been covered over the years.

Lets ride soon:cheers:

hahaha, man I like this place! Thanks for the insite KNOTSO...

so who's in Scottsdale, AZ? haha

My brother is down in Tucson but he's not as picky as me so Im scared to have him do the "walk around" for me....and being in the military and in training right now it's hard for me to jump on a plane and go check it out.

Anyone recommend a transporter? Im debating, having my bro, cousin, or uncle go get the bike...take down to Tucson and put in a hauler up to Nor Cal. to my house (and garage). Ive heard some guys say its gonna cost me $1k and then another guy said, NO WAY, shouldnt cost more than $400.

hey Dirty Jack,
Mine is an 03 chopper.... I like it for a lot of reasons, but whats real nice to me is that most of the parts are just standard aftermarket parts. S&S, Baker, Kerker. You can go to the harley shop and get your parts. Not sure what year Big Dog started using more proprietary parts on the bikes. Other then the frame recall, 03 seems to be a good year.....

As far as the chopper being for little guys...... I'm 6' 1" and its very comfortable.... My friend next door who is 5' 7" cant put his feet on the pegs and reach the bars on my chopper, so not sure why one would think its for short guys. The K9 sure is a lot bigger, and has 300 tire on the back compaired to the 250 on the chopper. Dont forget its also Right side drive so its balance is a little better. Its also a lot more money too.

Look on Ebay. There's a lot of good leads there and Craigslist from Dealers that are Hurting from economy and will gladly let you have one near cost...As much as you have to spend fixing one up there will be many others glad to deal with you. A little bit of driving or shipping cost will save you a lot of $$$$$ The only downside to buying a Brand New Big Dog is that as soon as your name goes on the title and out the door the value is going to drop between 5-10 Grand..I bought nmy 05 new in 06 and the dealer had it 6K less than the 06s the had setting there. If I could afford another one right now I would buy a 09 or 10 USED. There are plenty of them out there where people have either lost their jobs or some reason they just don't like it but have to sell em. You can for sure get a Like new bike for 20K and you will have plenty of money left over to customize it the way you want. I put 4K in mine before it left the dealership that day...Take a little time and shop around but do it soon before it starts warming up. ...

Before I made a decision I rode all the bikes I was interested in buying. Then I started searching looking at new and used bikes till I found the one I bought.
IMHO buy what u want new or used it only matters to u..
Now is a good time to buy so make your best deal and go for it!

find a new one and offer them between 20k-22k depending on paint and if there is a chrome package. i alot of dealers have closed . so other dealers picked up their inventory for cheap. they list the bike high because they dont want to pass up the person that is willing to pay that high price. but with the economy tanked for a prolonged time. the fact that bigdog as a company may or may not ?? and the fact that its not a lot of high end bikes selling and dealers are closing all the time. this makes it a buyers market. you can practically set your own price if you are at the right place at the right time.

Ok another stupid request....can someone about 6'-6'1" post up a picture of you sitting on your Chopper and K9! So I can see how the fit is...(arm/leg extention, etc)

(Im not near the bikes Im interested in, so Im unable to go sit on them right now)

THANKS!!

Ok guys, Ive finally woke up and got rid of my sport bike...

Im looking at a 09 K-9 and the dealer wants $29850.+ fees

With the economy and being a 09, Im sure theyll come down on that price..

WHATS FAIR? What should I go in with?

Thanks and hopefully if the dealer wants to deal, Ill be riding that bike SOON!

in the end...its all about what it is worth to you. i however, couldnt see paying more than NADA with the economy the way it is. i picked up an 04 ridgeback with everything already done to it that i wanted except maybe for paint. and i paid right at NADA. the problem is finding someone that is not so upside down in their loan that they can negotiate some.
