Thanks Dimentia my wife saw yours on her xs650 and had to have one.Not an xs but a xj700 Maxim we bought last week. This will be a fun build and the wife is going to help.It will get painted by Ed.I havent bought the whitewall tires and the spoke wheels yet but i am finding lots of parts on e-bay.I have some 12 inch apes ordered and i will be taking parts down for powdercoat. I tried to teach her to ride on my bobber but she was a little nervous. This bike weighs 100 pounds less than the bobber and 200 pounds less than the bigdog.Anyway here is a few pics.of what we have to work with...

That's awesome! Makes me remember the days my wife would hold bike parts while I buffed them, slinging buffing compound all over her! She's still with me. What a keeper!!!

Seat pan for the bike. The wife is doing the fiberglass work...

The bike with mini apes. Tomorrow were taking it to the car wash for some high pressure degreasing and then start pulling pieces off the engine to paint.I was going to use a powdercoater and i might go back to that after i see how bad i fuck up on the prep for paint. Wish us luck or HER luck hell i'm just going to clean and prep for the paint she is going to paint her own damn motor but if it comes out like shit i'm sure the blame will be on me and my prep work.

When we get it done i will have the wife take pics. of me riding wheelies down the street.:whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

Nice Borger, thanks for sharing the progress pics. That's too cool that your wife is so willing to tear into it and do her own work. I can barely get mine to check her own tire preasure.

Looks like i'm going backwards with this but i decided to pull the motor and do this thing right.Tonight the chasis wont be rolling no more.

The lift is a great work table!!!

This is the first time for me to tear down a bike to the frame.I can see me getting very confused in the near future, probably tonight when i start junking some of the wires we don't need.:confused:This has been fun so far i hope it continues.Looks like it's going to cost 750.00 to 1000.00 to have this bike complete.

I had a wife .... most help she gave was sitting in a lawn chair watching me wash her car ... and bitch about how hot a day it was ... but she was a hottie !!

Glad to see yours enjoys the same hobbies as you. Be sure to listen to her, she'll tell ya what she needs from you. Listen for it.

That is looking awesome!!! if you need parts for your XS650 checkout MikesXS .com he has all the parts you will need and he is the cheapest I could find. I ordered many items from him and never had an issue.

Well My wife already wanted an upgrade so now I just bought her an 2009 883 sportster. she will use that on the long rides and keep the XS for bar hopping
