Replacing Dyna 2000i with 2000i Question

I believe my dyna 2000i is no longer any good and plan to replace the unit with a new 2000i to troubleshoot and take a part of the ignition system out of my list of problems.

I've read over the install instructions and they don't mention getting the engine to TDC. Is this a step not needed while replacing the unit? Do I just line the unit up with the marks from the old unit I'm replacing and that's it?

Yes, line it up with the same marks. You should be good.

Thank you! I was thinking they didn't accidently leave it out of the instructions, but then again I've never done anything with timing without getting an engine to TDC. I'll line up the marks, thank you!

It tells you that the light goes OFF at TDC
Mr Wright is correct using the same marks should be ok but if you want to check see the pdf.

As long as you don't remove the cup that the sensor slides over you will be fine.
