Has anyone used this oil yet for the Baker 6-spd? What's the word on this? Bought some and plan on using it at the 2500 mile service.

At 460 miles i went to the Redline V-twin shockproof in my 07 K9. I've only got 1100 miles now and haven't had any problems. It is a lot easier to find neutral now, and it even seems easier to shift. I'm up north in Canada and the temperatures are colder than Michigan. The warmest we've had so far this year is about 80, and it gets down to around 46 at night.

I am running the RedLine Heavy Shock Proof in mine.....don't know if its the same shit....but I can tell that mine shifts easier than before....I like it!!

As ChopperDave shows there I have the same except I use Amsoil in the motor.
I've use the Redline Shockproof in the tranny on both of my Big Dogs for over 75,000 miles without any problems.
Baker recommended it for their transmissions till this year when they changed sponsors to Spectro.
With over 52,000 miles on my 05 Chopper I've changed the tranny oil maybe three times after the initial 500 mile service.
This is good oil.

I'm aware there are a large number of us using the Heavy Shockproof. Baker recommends the Heavy Shockproof, but no mention of the "Redline V-Twin transmission with Shockproof".

Thanks.

Use Amsoil 75w140 Severe Gear. It's great!!! changed mine and what a difference it made. Baker said it's an approved oil to them as long as it's a 75w140.

I'VE BEEN USING THE REDLINE HD SHOCKPROOF BUT MY NEXT CHANGE WILL BE WITH THE SPECTRO 75W140. ONLY BECAUSE I BOUGHT 2 QUARTS OF IT A WHILE BACK. I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH THE REDLINE HD THOUGH. NONE, EXCEPT IT IS A BIT THICK AND A PAIN TO DRAIN. ( HEY I WAS A POET AND DIDN'T KNOW IT :) )

Well be the first to give it a try!!!

Here is the differences I looked up as I never heard of the V-Twin one before;

Heavy Shockproof
A unique lubricant containing a suspension of solid microscopic particles as an extreme pressure agent--unique solid dispersion which cushions gear teeth to help prevent tooth breakage and allows the use of lower viscosities.

Recommended for heavily-loaded racing differentials and transmissions, Off Road racing and problem gearboxes. The viscosity characteristics allow the lubricant to resist throwoff and provide a film thickness similar to a 75W250 grade, while providing the same low fluid friction as an SAE 75W90.
V-Twin w/Shockproof
Similar to Red Line's Heavy ShockProof®, V-Twin Transmission Oil with ShockProof® provides unequalled protection for both stock and aftermarket American V-Twin transmissions.

This product dampens transmission noise (reducing the notorious shifting “clunk” found in these gearboxes), dramatically reduces temperature, provides thicker oil films between gear teeth and completely resists throw-off. It is compatible with petroleums and synthetics.

The viscosity characteristics allow the lubricant to resist throwoff and provide a film thickness similar to a 75W250 grade, while providing the same low fluid friction as an SAE 75W90.

Was using it, drained it last week and switched to the lighter Amsoil Severe Gear seens how I was running it in my primary for the Bandit.

Too many cases of broken parts with people that were running Redline.

Didn't want to chance it!!

same as Jake - I changed to Amsoil when I put the Bandit in - I personally think Amsoil oils are as good as they come

What does the maker (Baker?) say. Is it Redline Heavy Shockprrof befor the sponsor change. My most outstanding Big DOG Owners manual say use a quality Tranny oil. Doesnt even say what weight. Owners manual not worth the paper it is printed on, IMO.

Rhino,

I think as long as it's 75x 140 weight it's fine.

Very well said and Baker seems to allow for the use of many different types.
