Was looking to buy me a new pair of engineer boots and was set on a pair of red wings. I was also looking at the Chippewa boots. While I was reading some of the articles I saw where this guy bought a pair of Chippewa while he was waiting on a pair of red wings that he ordered. When his red wings arrived he was supprized to see that they are made in China now. They are just doing the engineer boots now but we all now what is in store for us at a later time. Why is someone always fucking up a good thing.I bet there sales drop on the engineer boots a lot becaue they are sold a lot to bikes and we all know about them. They are loyal to the Red White, and the Blue. Just a little info. check out the label when you go to buy a new pair.

Most companies are making their products in China and the U.S. The Chippewa boots i purchased are made in America but they also are made in China. I spend a little extra for the U.S. ones

First of all, I dont know exactly what engineer boots are but, I do know that Red Wings are work boots. That being said and you guys are looking for good American made boots, I get Thorogood boots. They are very comfortable and I can wear them all day at work right out of the box. ( Im an Ironworker, I know a good boot and Ive tried them all) I wear the 8" plain toe wedge style (flat bottom, us ironworkers dont like to have heels on our boots. You dont want to trip up on something up on the iron.)

I wear Red Wings at work. Great boots! Steel toe and shank, puncture resistant, water proof with an electrical barrier that will protect me from up to 16,000 volts. Yeah, they're expensive but I get a 20% discount with my Union card. For riding, I wear Justin western boots with a dogger heal. I like the way the heel hugs the pegs. In any event, I only wear Made in the USA products, preferably Union made.

That seems odd since I live 30 miles from the Red Wing factory. They do still make boots there! Maybe there's certain ones they don't? I love their boots and am sorry to hear they've started farming out some makes. Thanks for the heads up as I will definitely keep my eyes open the next pair I buy.

Double H boots are also very well made and comfortable. Made in the U.S.A. :flag:

The Official Double-H Boots Website: What Goes In...
Double H are good boots, however I do not think everyone one of the boots that has Double H name on them are made in the USA. In fact on their web site under products, they have a selection that specificalls states Made in the USA, however that is only for some of their selection, so the question is the other styles that are not listed under the Product Line "Made in the USA" where do they come from.

The same goes for many other other well know American Products, some of the products are made in the USA (usually hihger cost and better quality), but many of a companies other products are not, even though companies will gladly fly Made IN The USA, though not all such products that are made by such companies are truly made here. It is a marketing scheme.

Much like HD with American Icon, yet there is numerous parts on such that are indeed made overseas. The same goes with HD selling many accesories and clothing that is not made in our country including leathers from Pakistan and other such great places. Yet HD is the biggest whore for shouting the Made In USA logo.

Personnal I tend to buy a good made product made in the USA (do not fall for the Made In American line either since that covers NFTA i.e. Mexico-Canada and in some cases anywhere in all of the Americas including South American and Central America). That said, even if a product is made overseas, if it is a USA Company Owned Product, some of the money comes back home, no issue with that. Also even though there is many foriegn owned companies that make good products in the USA, sometimes I would rather buy such since they are helping to put fellow countrymen to work, where many of the American Compaines send the job overseas and the profits do not get spread to the workers or the US workers get shut down while the corporate big wigs and stock holders make all the money of the American Owned label yet very little done for the worker other than the admins, finance and coroporate office people.

By the way, nothing wrong with what ever your hard earned money gets you. Seen on another thread a great deal at Harbor Frieght for some wheel chocks, now I am sure they are not made here-but it is a good deal!

Oh one last item that irks me when companies fly the USA flag, go visit some of their factories inclduing HD and see how many non USA made items such as machinery, tooling. processing, etc are from foriegn owned companies. I guess it is okay to say made in the USA even though no problem to buy say a Hatachii 6 Axis CNC Mill verse a Hass or Bridgeport, screw supporting the rest of the american industrial base, seems to be more there than idea, yet push the Made In The USA lable.

Beware of crap labeled “Made in America”, it’s usually missing the “N” or “S” in front of America and has no relation to the USA!!!!
