thinkin bout havin some cam work done on my 05 ridgeback..
had BD dealer tell me about the .657 lift red shift cam..
he told me that he was goin to install the cam redo the valves and pretty much redo the top end to specs 4 that cam. he said it would be reliable and not high maintence...
I'm not second guessin the guy, just would like some feed back from you all... Is the cam too BIG?? thanks:confused:

Don't know if the cam is too big but you know the 05's came with smaller valves, E size carbs and restrictor plates. I imagine you pulled the restrictor plates already.

But if you are doing the whole top-end then it's just about what you want to get out of the bike/motor.
Red light to red light or miles and road trips.

Have fun with it and keep us up to date on what you end up with.

the bike already has a super G carb and hotter ignition..
I don't take the bike on long trips jus usually round town and some rides. I'm just lookin for a killer sound and something I don't have to worry about if I do start out on a long trip...

I run a 656V2 Red Shift cam in my bike. Mine is a EFI but below is what I have and what it does. It has a torque curve from hell and will do whatever I want to do.

Because it is a EFI bike an they come with plain tappet rockers and a single wound .585 lift springs I had to address this no matter what I did compared to the good ole carbureted bikes and what they come with. The stock OEM EFI system is a S&S VFI Single band with a propriety map and all it wants to do is adjust to a EPA 14.7 AFR so it all had to go because I want to tune the bike and it learn on its own.

It still has the stock air box on it so I know if it suffering for air in too

John Sachs did my head work and props go to him for his work and knowledge..:2thumbs:
He helped me out more than anyone will ever know. Do not hesitate to use him or believe in him
Heads were ported and polished and the springs set up for the cam.
John installed 2.02 and 1.615 valves and put in new valve guides
John set up the heads for a 11-1 compression after I told him how far the pistons were in the hole and milled the heads

I have a R&B Racing 2-1 pipe

I installed a Wide Band Thundermax EFI for all my tuning needs. Jason at the Thunderheart factory did the initial mapping for me and continues to help me and refine things. They did the original install or conversion of the wide band on my Big Dog to see what it would take after talking to them. It is a easy conversion for those with a EFI bike. I am using a two piece unit due to the space and the EHC bracket. A one piece unit will fit if you modify where the battery hold down rubber strap attaches at. I will do this sometime and eliminate the EHC as well.

This bike has a lot more in it and I need to do some tuning on it when I have time. For what it is worth and when I get someone to film for me to back it up, at 30 mph if you tach it up and turn it loose, it will start spinning the 300mm and pull the front tire off the ground....
Its a Big Dog...and sometimes a bad dog

I have been reading a bunch of dyno sheets lately on the forum so I decided to take mine down and do a pull. I drove it about 45 minutes to get there and the bike only cooled down about 15 minutes before they made the pulls. Anyway, the bike runs pretty good for a big ole sled.....
