Red Line Synthetic Primary Oil

Fellow Dog Owners, I just performed a 7,500 mile service on my 04 Chopper. Changed engine oil to Mobil 1 Synthetic, drained and filled tranny with Heavy Duty Shockproof. Removed Primary cover, checked sprocket backlash and chain tension as well as gear and chain wear. All looked to be in excellent condition. My question: I filled the primary with the Red Line V-Twin (Synthetic) Primary case oil. Has anyone else used this primary oil? The viscosity is a lot lighter than Rev Tech or HD primary oil. If I elect to do so, any problems with switching back to Rev Tech or HD primary oil after running the synthetic?

Appreciate the input fellas. I called and talked with Baker Transmissions. They said no problems running the Red Line Synthetic Primary oil. They also suggested trying Spectro. Kinda of wondering why they mentioned Spectro as I had never heard of it before! Any one heard of or using Spectro oils in their bikes?

I have been running the same as you..Mobil 1 synthy in the motor and RedLine Heavy Shock Proof in the tranny...but I am still running the RevTech in the primy....never tried synthy in the primary before...

Some have reported issues whenever using any type of synthetic in the primary, mainly clutch slippage due to the slickness of the synthetic. I can't speak to it, as I have never used synthetic in the primary of any of my harleys and running a dry setup in the chopper.

I used to run regular non synthetic HD oil in my k9 primary. After i installed a Bandit clutch i went to Redline Primary oil and it works great. I have 2 spacers under each spring and it holds a 120hp motor on the dyno. All is good! It does look like a thinner weight, but is really does not matter due to it's chemical makeup and it's superior wear ability and heat transfer ability. It's good shit!

i had heard syn is too slick for the primary with stock clutches

I had syn in the primary for a bit, 3k. I believe it caused clutch pack issue. Premature wear.(imo) I replaced the pack and went to harley primary no problems since.

I use Revtech in the primary. Never any problems and usually easy to find.
