You need to be carefull building up the engine on a BDM -- as I understand it once you go over about 120HP you run a real risk of blowing the transmission to hell. Others can offer more detail about this.

I can attest that the baker in these is good to about 120 or so (I dont know the exact number yours will fail at)...grenaded the trans on one of my previous builds (american iron horse ... similar setup to the dog).
John Sachs is a member and can steer you right. Awesome dude with a metric shit-ton of knowledge.

Well, don’t come on here much n e more, but ur in my old stomping grounds, I grew up in El Paso. But n e ways, I did a complete rebuild on my engine, got a hold of the guys at S&S and did everything they recommended as if it were a crate engine not a derated engine from 07 because epa regulations etc. the only thing I had to do that wasn’t recommended was bore it out cuz my jugs were oblong. But I bored it out, threw Carillo Pistons in it, changed the lifters, changed to the 600 cam. had a guy spin drop the heads which I still don’t know if I like because now I have to use Cometic gaskets. But it increased the compression and all that as it was supposed to. I had it dyno tested before and it had about 106 horses, after it had about 143 at the wheel and I thought I was fine until my transmission decided to go sideways. Granted it last about 3 years before doing so. Point being, it made a world of difference, and I would never go back to a stock 117 after this. But it also killed my gas mileage, went from about 42mpg to about 30… so good luck but call S&S and they will tell you exactly how to make it how it was supposed to be before it was put on a bike. How they sell it as a crate engine. Best of luck Broham!!!
