rear shock adjustment

Ok... for some of the boys like Sul or whoever else has expierence with these damn things...

Can you explain the adjustments on our bdm adjustable rear shocks?

I figure one is hieght... but is that it?

Just want to make sure I get them in and adjusted right. When Al and I were pulling them we tried to release the pressure on the bolts and got them all out of whack.

Gasman,
From everything I have seen on my bike, the only adjustment is for ride height. Turn each adjuster nut equal to either raise or lower and tighten the jam nut.
Appears you have to or should turn them together. Install them, raise the frame to take pressure off, loosen the jam nuts and rotate both adjusters with a 7/8th wrench together, tighten, lower and look at the height. Increase the shock length to lower the bike and shorten the length to raise it.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Mine are already off from each other but I will just use a set of calipers to get them equal...

You could just run both of them all the way in and start from there.

I have to watch it... I have chipped my swingarm before by having the ride height too low and the swingarm bottoms out on the fender struts, scratching the powder on the swingarm.

I set them tonight and we're good to go now...

If the tension is adjustable you will see two holes in the end of the shock on the adjustable end for a spanner wrench (Harley type has one).:2thumbs:

The only adjustment is the height adjustment. No adjustment for tension.
I just put on a set that had one shock body about 1/8" longer than the other in relation to the front mounting hole. By the time I realized that, it was time to self medicate!:angry:
