Rear pulley

Got an 05 BDM Chopper with a squeaky belt. Inspecting it I noticed that the belt was a little too tight then I noticed that the rear pulley is pretty worn, probably why it was so tight (last owner couldn't get the belt to stop squeaking). After some research it seems I have a 65 tooth 1-1/4" pulley but I can't find a new one anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can get a new one? I called bigdog performance products but they didn't have one...so I'm looking at sending this one off to get the insert done by supermax but not looking forward to a 2 week turnaround (hell could be longer). Bike and I are still in the honeymoon stage lol!

You can always spray some liquid teflon on it every couple hundres miles to get you by for the season then send it out to Supemax when the season is over.

The spray will work for you for about 200 -300 miles before you will need to re-apply.

My belt squeaked until I realigned the pulley so the belt tracked in the middle forward and backward. Now no more noise at all.

When you say spray teflon on the belt, where do you mean? Directly on the top,the underside or the edges? Or the pulley itself. Thanks,Cliff.

The belts on these dogs are too tight per spec and it causes premature belt and rear bearing wear. We run ours looser at about 1" to 1.25" top to top movement under medium hand forcing tension.

UPDATE:

1" to 1.25" I feel is too loose now after running several seasons. My rear pulley has some signs of wear so we now run the belts tighter at about 3/4" to 1" movement.

Loosen the belt.
Hand clean the rear pulley grooves and sides.
Spin the rear wheel and lightly spray (mist not stream) a light amount of silicone on the rotor teeth and sides.
Adjust the belt to ride near center of the rotor.

It should get you through the season.

Silicone would work as well.

Just make sure it is on the pulley as stated and not the belt.

Go to Supermax when you can. I had the same on the '04. No amount of adjusting would get rid of the squeak. Was a common problem back then. I did the Supermax fix and haven't had an issue since.
