Rear Exhaust Heat Shield Broken

I noticed a rattle on my bike and I traced it to my rear-most exhaust heat shield. It is attached to the pipe with two hose clamps. I removed the heat shield and found that one of the brackets which hold the hose clamp to the heat shield was broken off.

Question - will I be able to braze that bracket back on with out damaging the nice shiny chrome on the outside of the heat shield?

Probably Not. You Might Try A Wet Rag On The Outside When welding

You could also try a high temp epoxy. I would recomend roughing up the surface really well before applying.

You must have the mean mothers exhaust!

I welded new tabs and used lashing wire to stop this.

It can be welded without leaving marks, but either take it some where or be very careful to make sure it doesn't get too hot.

I gave it the ol' JB Weld try. Vance and Hines said I could purchase a replacement heat shield for $138. I think I'll buy it and stick it on the shelf in case this doesn't work.
